After a steep climb up to "Red Lovers Ridge" from the Desolation Lake aid station runners can make better time as the trail hovers around 9500 to 10,000 feet and has shorter uphill stretches. The lights of Park City, Brighton, and even Salt Lake City can be seen at night up on the higher vantage points. At mile 70.79, Scott's aid station, water and food are available. A long downhill section begins after the aid station and climbs again after dropping onto the Big Cottonwood highway. Access is from I-15 by taking the 7200 South exit and going east - OR - by taking the Big Cottonwood Canyon exit off of I-215. Brighton is 14 miles from the Canyon mouth. Runners come up to the asphalt loop on the western side against traffic and proceed south until they pass the gray Brighton Center community building and go up the short hill into the Brighton Ski Resort building (also called Molly Greens) which is used for the Brighton aid station..
