DIRECTIONS TO START LINE

START:  Follow I-15 going north from Salt Lake City. Take exit 324(SR-89), to South Ogden by Lagoon. Continue to follow SR-89 toward Farmington/Kaysville. On your right off the freeway you will see a Smith's Food King. Contunue along SR-89 about 4 miles to the light at 400 north, Kaysville. After turning right at that light make an immediate left. Stay on this road, initially headed north, as it swings right (East) up the mountain past the Davis County Public Works building (650 North and 1400 East), and then the Davis County Animal Control Building. The East Mountain Wilderness Park appears on the left just below the shooting range. The park is about 1/2 mile east of highway 89.

FRANCIS PEAK MAINTENANCE SHED

FROM THE START:  Retrace steps to 400 North and turn left(South) on State Road 89. Drive about 3 miles and take the Sheppard Lane exit and continue to the light. Turn left (East) at the light and go east 1/2 mile to Main Street. Turn right and proceed South as the road curves towards North Farmington. Turn left on 600 North and go uphill (East) to 100 East. If you miss 600 North you can continue to 500 North and go left to 100 East. Turn left on 100 East - this is the Farmington Canyon Road leading up to the Francis Peak Aid Station. The asphalt road narrows and turns to dirt about a mile up the canyon. After about 8 miles of switchback rocky road you come to a junction and bear left through the open gate toward Francis Peak Radar Towers. Within a mile, you will see a metal road maintenance shed on the east side of the main road. The aid station is in the large parking area just south of the shed.
FROM SALT LAKE CITY:  Follow directions to the start but take the Sheppard Lane exit rather than continuing toward Farmington/Kaysville. Turn right on main street and left on 600 North or 500 North. Go to 100 East and turn left. Follow the directions above to the maintenance shed.

DURING RACE DAY, PLEASE DO NOT DRIVE PAST THE AID STATION TO THE RADAR TOWERS. THIS WILL HELP KEEP THE DUST DOWN FOR THE RUNNERS.

BIG MOUNTAIN PASS

FROM FRANCIS PEAK OR SALT LAKE CITY: Travel south on I-15 to Salt Lake City and take the exit about 2400 South to I-80 heading east towards Cheyenne. Continue about 5 miles up Parleys Canyon. Take exit 134 (East Canyon) by Mountain Dell Golf Course. Turn left under the freeway and follow the road about 9 miles up Highway 65 towards East Canyon. Climb up some steep switchbacks until you reach Big Mountain pass and the aid station. You will see a transmission relay station on your left and a large dirt parking lot with a Pioneer Monument on the right.

LAMBS CANYON

FROM BIG MOUNTAIN PASS:  Drive south back down to I-80 near Mountain Dell Golf Course. Go under the freeway, turn left, and drive east uphill 2 miles to exit 137, Lambs Canyon. Exit right and turn left under the freeway. The aid station is usually 200 yards northwest of the underpass where the Lambs Canyon stream flows out under the freeway. During the race, park in the dirt field south of the aid station up by the on-ramp just north of the underpass.
FROM SALT LAKE CITY:  Take I-80 east to Parleys Canyon and 2 miles past the East Canyon/Mountain Dell Recreation Area Exit. Take Exit 137, lambs Canyon exit as above.

MILLCREEK CANYON (Upper Big Water Trailhead)

FROM LAMBS CANYON:  Go back down I-80 west towards Salt Lake City. At the mouth of Parleys Canyon take I-215 South (a right turn off I-80). Go south past 3300 South and Exit at 3900 South. Turn left and go east under the freeway to the light on Wasatch Blvd. and turn left (north) At 3800 South turn right and drive up Millcreek Canyon. 6 miles up the canyon is Elbow Fork where the runners come off trails and proceed up the asphalt road. Do not wait here for your runners due to extreme congestion. LIMIT CARS TO ONE PER RUNNER PLEASE! CAUTION! SLOW DRIVING - 10 MPH OR SLOWER! PLEASE PROCEED WITH EXTREME CAUTION UP THIS CANYON! The Millcreek(Upper Big Water) aid station is 3 miles further up the canyon. Parking may be difficult at Millcreek(Upper Big Water). There is also a parking lot 0.1 miles below at the Little Water Trailhead.
FROM SALT LAKE CITY:  Take I-80 east towards Cheyenne but at the mouth of Parleys Canyon take the I-215 South Exit to 3900 South Exit and backtrack on Wasatch Blvd. to 3800 South and up east to Millcreek Canyon as above to Big Water Trailhead.

BRIGHTON

FROM MILLCREEK( Upper Big Water Trailhead):  Drive back down the canyon to Wasatch Blvd. intersection and turn left. Turn right at 3900 South and left at the I-215 entrance and proceed south past 4500 South and take the next Exit, number 6, Cottonwood Canyons. Turn left. The exit heads southeast becoming Wasatch Blvd. going south. At the 3rd light after the underpass turn left at 7000 South, Fort Union Blvd. There is a 7-11 store on the southwest corner of the intersection. This is Big Cottonwood Canyon. Drive about 15 miles to the Brighton Lodge.
FROM SALT LAKE CITY:  Take I-15 South to I-80 East to I-215 South to Exit 6, Cottonwood Canyons as above.

FINISH LINE, HOMESTEAD RESORT, MIDWAY UTAH:

FROM SALT LAKE CITY:  Take I-80 Eastbound up Parley's Canyon toward Park City/Cheyenne. Take Exit 148 Heber/Vernal to U.S. Highway 40 towards Heber, past Jordanelle State Park. At the first stop light (13 miles from I-80) turn right onto River Road. Follow the winding road and the signs towards Wasatch Mountain State Park. You will veer right onto Burgi Lane and then turn left onto Cari Lane. Go to stopsign on 700 West (Homestead Drive) and turn left. The Homestead and the finish line are on your left as you drive South. Watch for runners on the road.

SPECIAL NOTES ON TRAFFIC PROBLEMS You will generally have plenty of time to negotiate the twisting canyon roads. So, use extra care in your driving habits, especially at night. Let the runners have the speed. Slow Down!
