DIRECTIONS TO START LINE

START:  Follow I-15 going north from Salt Lake City. Take exit 324(SR-89), to South Ogden by Lagoon. Continue to follow SR-89 toward Farmington/Kaysville. On your right off the freeway you will see a Smith's Food King. Contunue along SR-89 about 4 miles to the light at 400 north, Kaysville. After turning right at that light make an immediate left. Stay on this road, initially headed north, as it swings right (East) up the mountain past the Davis County Public Works building (650 North and 1400 East), and then the Davis County Animal Control Building. The East Mountain Wilderness Park appears on the left just below the shooting range. The park is about 1/2 mile east of highway 89.

FRANCIS PEAK MAINTENANCE SHED

THERE IS NO CREW ACCESS TO THE FRANCIS PEAK AID STATION.  DUE TO A MAJOR SLIDE THE FARMINGTON CANYON ROAD IS CLOSED FOR AN UNSPECIFIED PERIOD OF TIME.

LITTLE DELL INTERIM PARKING, BIG MOUNTAIN PASS & LAMBS CANYON

FROM THE START LINE OR SALT LAKE CITY: Travel south on I-15 to I-80 heading east towards Cheyenne. Continue about 5 miles up Parleys Canyon. Take exit 134 (East Canyon) by Mountain Dell Golf Course. Turn left under the freeway and follow the road until you pass the Immigration Canyon turn-off. Shortly after that turn-off on your right is the interim parking at Little Dell. To go to Big Mountain from that point, turn right as you leave the parking area and follow the road as it switches back and forth up to the aid station. To go to Lambs Canyon, turn left as you leave the parking area and follow the road back down to I-80. Go under the underpass and get on the freeway east bound. Take the very next exit which is Lamb's Canyon. Go left under the freeway and you are at the aid station. REMEMBER TO GET THE APPROPRIATE PARKING PASS BEFORE YOU LEAVE LITTLE DELL PARKING.  YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO PARK AT THE AID STATION WITHOUT THAT PASS.

MILLCREEK CANYON (UPPER BIG WATER)

PLEASE REMEMBER THAT AS OF THIS YEAR (2012) THE MILLCREEK AID STATION IS NO LONGER A CREW ACCESS STATION.  THE TRAFFIC CONGESTION AT THAT AID STATION AND ALONG THE CANYON ROAD HAS BECOME UNMAMAGEABLE AND DANGEROUS.

BRIGHTON

FROM LAMBS CANYON: Go back down I-80 west towards Salt Lake City. At the mouth of Parleys Canyon take I-215 South (a right turn off I-80).  Continue along I-215 and take the Exit 6, Cottonwood Canyons. Turn left. The exit heads southeast becoming Wasatch Blvd. going south. At the 3rd light after the underpass turn left at 7000 South, Fort Union Blvd. There is a 7-11 store on the southeast corner of the intersection. This is Big Cottonwood Canyon. Drive about 15 miles to the Brighton Lodge.

FROM SALT LAKE CITY:  Take I-15 South to I-80 East to I-215 South to Exit 6, Cottonwood Canyons as above.

FINISH LINE, HOMESTEAD RESORT, MIDWAY UTAH:

FROM BRIGHTON: From the Brighton aid station parking lot area, drive down the Brighton loop about 1/2 mile  passing the Brighton Store area on the left as the Big Cottonwood Highway drops downhill.  Take a right hand turn up the Guardsman Pass road toward Park City or Midway.  About 3 miles from the Brighton Aid station the road makes a sharp elbow turn and continues uphill another 1/2 mile or so crossing  over Guardsman Pass.  Follow it downhill about 1.8 miles until the road splits in several directions.  Take the road going downhill to Midway.  After a  little over 7 miles, it passes the Wasatch State Park campground.  Take a right at the fork in the road [past the campground  and follow it until you can turn left onto the Snake Creek Road near the Wasatch State Park Visitor Center building with a little lake on its north side.  Follow the Snake Creek Road as it goes east then turns south becoming Homestead Drive.  In less than a mile, the Homestead entrance appears on your left.

Please Note: All but 2 or 3 miles of this road were paved as of the 2011 race.  The unpaved portion was hard-packed dirt road.  If you do not want to take this route you can travel back down Big Cottonwood Canyon to I-215, drive North to I-80 Eastbound, and follow the Salt Lake City to Midway direction below.

FROM SALT LAKE CITY:  Take I-80 Eastbound up Parley's Canyon toward Park City/Cheyenne. Take Exit 148 Heber/Vernal to U.S. Highway 40 towards Heber, past Jordanelle State Park. At the first stop light (13 miles from I-80) turn right onto River Road. Follow the winding road and the signs towards Wasatch Mountain State Park. You will veer right onto Burgi Lane and then turn left onto Cari Lane. Go to stopsign on 700 West (Homestead Drive) and turn left. The Homestead and the finish line are on your left as you drive South. Watch for runners on the road.

SPECIAL NOTES ON TRAFFIC PROBLEMS You will generally have plenty of time to negotiate the twisting canyon roads. So, use extra care in your driving habits, especially at night. Let the runners have the speed. Slow Down!
