Length = 8.53 miles

Starts at 6100 feet & finishes at 7660 feet

Ascent 3114 Descent 1519

45% Trails + 55% Asphalt Road

Runners take 2.2 to 3.5 hours to go from Lamb's to Millcreek(Upper Big Water) (mile 53.13 to 61.68). Water, food, and electrolyte drinks are available. THIS IS A DROP BAG STATION. Temperatures will cool down as you gain altitude and reach the forests and canyons. The climb up Lamb's gains 1500 feet in 2.1 miles. Brush can be annoying with some stinging nettle and thorny wild rose. Most runners will need flashlights through this section and warmer clothing. Dehydration and altitude make a dangerous combination so take very good care of yourself in the first half and it will pay off on the "Bear" ascent.  Runners will be heading east up the canyon on the pavement after a steep descent down to Elbow Fork from the pass.  The 3 miles of asphalt road are very narrow. Runners will enter the aid station from the west and leave going uphill on a trail headed south.  All runners should use extreme caution in case there are any vehicles on this road. DUE TO EXTREME CONGESTION ON THIS ROAD AND VERY LIMITED PARKING AT AND NEAR THE AID STATION, RUNNER CREWS ARE NOT ALLOWED AT THE MILLCREEK AID STATION.
